Job Description

Role Overview The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing the end-to-end transportation network for the organization. This includes overseeing a large fleet of heavy vehicles, ensuring timely distribution of perishable goods, maintaining compliance, and driving operational efficiency across all logistics functions. Key Responsibilities Fleet Management Oversee the operation, maintenance, and utilization of heavy vehicles (tankers, refrigerated trucks, distribution vehicles). Ensure optimal fleet availability and minimize downtime through preventive maintenance planning. Monitor fuel consumption, route efficiency, and vehicle performance. Distribution & Transportation Plan and manage dispatch operations for milk collection and finished dairy product distribution. Ensure timely and safe delivery of perishable products while maintaining cold chain integrity. Optimize routing and scheduling to reduce transportation costs and improve delivery timelines. Vendor & Driver Management Manage transport contractors, third-party logistics providers, and fleet vendors. Supervise driver workforce, including scheduling, training, and performance monitoring. Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with transport regulations, vehicle documentation, and safety norms. Implement and monitor safety protocols for drivers and vehicles. Conduct regular audits and inspections. Cold Chain Management Ensure proper temperature-controlled logistics for dairy products. Monitor refrigeration systems and ensure quality standards are maintained during transit. Cost Control & Optimization Track logistics KPIs including cost per km, turnaround time, and delivery efficiency. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Coordination & Planning Collaborate with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless operations. Forecast logistics requirements based on production and demand planning. Technology & Reporting Utilize fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and ERP tools. Generate MIS reports and analyze logistics performance metrics. Key Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain (preferred) 12–15 years of experience in logistics/transportation Minimum 8–10 years managing heavy vehicle fleets Experience in FMCG or dairy industry is highly preferred Strong knowledge of fleet operations and transport regulations Expertise in cold chain logistics Leadership and team management skills Analytical and problem-solving abilities Cost optimization and negotiation skills Ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments Proficiency in logistics software and MS Excel.
